How to use Twitter for your business
Twitter is a platform that helps your business connect with potential clients and build your relationship with customer support which helps grow your business.
With over 330 million active users, it is very important to establish your business presence on Twitter. But you need to understand that first impressions matter, and your profile is your chance to create a lasting, positive image.
Don’t worry, in 6 steps I will take you through the journey and give you tips and suggestions that can help you.
Step 1: Create a Twitter Business Account
Go to www.twitter.com and sign. Fill in the required details and follow further instructions.
Step 2: Setup your display name and account @name
Set up your account name which should be your business name e.g. @UfirstDEV. It’s a unique name for you that comes after the “@”. It’s up to 15 characters.
Set up your display name that appears right above your account name. It’s should be the name of your business e.g UfirstDEV. It takes up to 50 characters and can be changed later.
Step 3: Set up your bio
This is where you start pitching your business. In 160 characters, you’ll be introducing your business to the world. Tell people what you do, what value you bring, and why they should follow you.
Add a direct link to your website (Need website? Let’s get started here), and add your location.
Step 4: Add your profile photo and header photo
Choose and upload a profile photo and your header photo that represents your business. For your profile photo, I recommend your logo in dimensions of 400×400 pixels while the header photo should be 1500X500 pixels.
Make sure both photos are clear, and high-quality, and create visual consistency. Upload photos in JPG, GIF, or PNG formats.
Step 5: Pin a tweet
You could pin your promo, latest news, content ads tweet etc. at the top of your timeline (TL) so that whenever someone visits your page, they can easily see the important tweet.
To pin a tweet, click on the ‘more’ or “…” option at the top-right corner of the Tweet and select “Pin to your profile”.
Step 6: Connect with people
Twitter also gives recommendations on who to follow, you can follow people you know, and using our proven social media strategy to hunt for clients, you can start hunting for people that could have an interest in your business, and later become potential customers.
